Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is the science of studying human behavior. It came about in the early 1900s. John Watson, B.F. Skinner, and Ivan Pavlov are just a few of ABA’s founding fathers.
ABA refers to the term “behavior” as “any response that can be observed and measured.” Applied behavior analysis therapy uses the principles of behavior to increase and decrease specific behaviors.
Applied Behavior Analysis therapy can be implemented in any environment such as the clinic, the home, at school and in the community. At NSPT, an Applied Behavior Analysis treatment package will be created by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). After the BCBA completes an extensive evaluation, the BCBA will create an individualized treatment that will best fit the needs of your child. Your child will receive 1:1 therapy along with ongoing analysis of his progress to ensure he is continuing to progress and succeed.
It takes a village to raise a child.
That’s why we have all hands on deck when it comes to your child’s treatment. You’ll start in the ABA department with your BCBA and a team of Behavior Therapists. If we see a need, we may refer you to our Physical Therapy, Occuapational Therapy, Speech Therapy, or Mental Health Services. Either way, all of your child’s care stays in house, and therapist are in constant communication with how to best serve your child.
